In this course, you will learn how to coach staff in a trauma-informed and outcomes-focused approach; it will simultaneously prioritise staff development, well-being and retention.
This program combines the science of trauma-informed practice and motivation theory with professional supervision and reflective coaching skills. Develop relationships built upon the transformative trauma-informed pillars of trust, safety, collaboration, empowerment and choice. In this course, you will learn ways to support your team in growing skills exponentially by accurately assessing situations and setting meaningful goals and action steps to improve their practice, manage complex workplace relationships, and balance self-care.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the impacts of trauma on brain and body development and recognise how coaching can mitigate or escalate these impacts.
- Implement a trauma-informed approach to coaching that nurtures academic, social, and emotional growth among adults and young people.
- Co-regulate with team members and support them in setting meaningful goals and action steps to improve relationships and self-care.
- Collect and present data objectively and transparently. Learn to listen and question effectively and support team members to set empowering client-focused goals and action steps.
Learning Activities
Trust-Building Action Plan
Participants critically analyse and plan to implement evidence-based trust-building strategies within their coaching relationships.
Trauma-Informed Data Analysis
Participants evaluate a range of data collection methods through a trauma-informed lens and plan for how to collect data to support coaching within their unique context.
RAISE Coaching Role Plays
Through role-play, coaches practise evidence-based listening and questioning techniques. They analyse and implement our RAISE model: Regulate, Analyse, Identify, Set, Enact.
Peer Coaching
Throughout the year, participants will meet regularly for peer-coaching sessions with an assigned partner from the course. During sessions, participants will implement protocols the instructor sets at quarterly workshops.
