Jon Tran

Coach and consultant

Jon, a former social worker, turned educator to empower young people in out-of-home care. Inspired by their lack of opportunities in mainstream education, he thrives in alternative education, leading teams. Jon now serves as an Associate Pastor, building faith communities in Melbourne's West.

Jon started his professional life as a social worker. He did his placements with young people in out-of-home care and quickly developed a passion for this cohort. Following this, Jon studied education to pursue his interest in teaching.

His move into education was primarily inspired by the lack of opportunity young people in out-of-home care faced in the mainstream education system. Through working with some of the state’s most resilient and inspiring young people in out-of-home care, Jon quickly learned to roll with the punches, adapt on the fly, and capture almost impossible learning to map to a scope and sequence.

Jon has experience in direct teaching practice and leading teams in alternative education. Jon currently serves as an Associate Pastor in the Anglican Church and is starting new communities of faith in Melbourne’s West.
