Tom Mason

A dedicated social worker, Tom excels in alternative education and out-of-home care leadership. He's a Lifeline volunteer, Mental Health First Aid instructor, and youth work educator, committed to systemic change for equal access to education, employment, and healthcare in Australia.

Tom is a social worker committed to strengthening communities so their members grow to live on their terms. He has worked in direct practice and senior leadership positions in alternative education and out-of-home care across Victoria and Tasmania. Tom held the Head of Wellbeing role before taking on the Child Safeguarding Manager role across a network of Flexible Learning Centres.

Tom has experience working with schools to comply with Child Safe and Student Duty of Care minimum standards for school registration. Tom has been responsible for developing and implementing education programs for high-risk offenders, with a particular passion for men’s mental health.

Tom’s passion for mental health has also led him to complete a crisis support qualification at Lifeline, where he has volunteered on the phones. In addition to this, Tom is an accredited Mental Health First Aid instructor.

Tom is an experienced professional supervisor who has studied clinical supervision at Bouverie before completing the Neurosequential Model of Reflection and Supervision. Tom has taught students in Youth Work qualifications at both Victoria University and RMIT. Tom is determined to influence systemic change and to create equal access to education, employment, and health care for all who call Australia home.
